FAQ
How does the SandLock Weave actually keep sand out?
How does the SandLock Weave actually keep sand out?
Standard mesh is sized to let water through — which also lets sand grains through, and the weave then traps them inside. The SandLock Weave uses a micro-gauge construction with directional drainage: openings large enough to pass water out, too fine for grain-sized particles to pass in. Water drains in one step. Grit never enters.
Will they really grip on slippery rocks and boat ramps?
Will they really grip on slippery rocks and boat ramps?
That's what the TideGrip compound is made for. Standard rubber is formulated for dry friction and hydroplanes on algae. Our sole uses a softer, siped compound that channels the water film away so rubber contacts rock. Watch the Ramp Test video above — then test it yourself under the Beach Day Guarantee.
Are these "barefoot" shoes? Do I need to adjust to them?
Are these "barefoot" shoes? Do I need to adjust to them?
They're built on natural-movement principles: a wide toe box so toes can spread and grip, a low profile so you can feel the ground, and a flexible sole. Most people find them immediately comfortable — and soft, sandy, and wet surfaces are the gentlest places to wear a flexible shoe. If you're used to heavily cushioned shoes, just ease in like you would with any new footwear.
Will the wide toe box look bulky?
Will the wide toe box look bulky?
No. The silhouette is designed to read as a normal sneaker — trail to river to restaurant without screaming "water shoe." The width is inside the shoe, where your toes need it, not in the profile.
How fast do they actually dry?
How fast do they actually dry?
They drain in one step out of the water and are typically dry within the hour in summer conditions — dry by dinner, every time. No next-day dampness, no mildew smell, no drying rack rituals.
How long will they last?
How long will they last?
The cheap ones fall apart in weeks. A: They're built to last seasons, not weekends — reinforced seams and an abrasion-tested sole. And we back it with the Two-Summer Warranty: if a seam splits or a sole peels before your second summer, we replace them free.
